Intermission: Behind Chintan's Haiku

Find his haiku on the back cover of a bunch of Fabaceae.
Danaus genutia (Striped Tiger Butterfly) exhibiting a behaviour called plant scratching on the plants of Crotalaria retusa (Rattlepod). Photography. Chintan Bhatt.
"When the monsoon season ends, we see a lot of butterflies on the Crotalaria spp plant (Rattlepods). The adult butterflies, especially Tiger butterflies, Danaus spp. mainly come for the nectar and also for the toxic alkaloids Pyrollizidine Alkaloids (PAs). This behavior is called ‘plant scratching’. They imbibe these chemicals inside them to increase their pheromone levels which are necessary for mating. Hence they just don’t come for the nectar. Flutter-bys is an unofficial term for butterflies which was used by poet and novelist Maxwell Bodenheim."
