In my work, I'm dedicated to uncovering the subtle human influences in everyday life. I aim to initiate a conversation between consciousness and the environment by examining the tangible evidence of human presence in our surroundings. I am captivated by the complexities of erasure, evasion, existence, and proof. Through my work, I interrogate the essence of existing, grappling with the nature of the relentless pursuit of validation. I navigate the delicate line between visibility and obscurity.

I am an artist and photographer who grew up in the GTA and have lived in Ottawa for the last 10 years. After attending engineering school for a few years, my life has shifted towards appreciating, creating, and sharing something beautiful within this world. I currently use whatever medium feels right to portray that, mostly oil painting, photography, and landscape design.

Chabelita A. Aviquivil

Chabelita Aviquivil is a Bachelor of Science in Biology major in Systematics graduate from the University of the Philippines Los Baños. She is currently working as a project staff in the UPLB Museum of Natural History, wherein she gets to study the karst flora of the CALABARZON region. Before, she mostly just drew when required, but now, she mostly draws for herself which makes her love it more. Her current favorite subjects are plants and other organisms. In the future, she aspires to be one of the leading systematists/taxonomists and conservationists not just in the Philippines but also globally.

Claudia Tong

Claudia is on an artistic mission to give ordinary moments a chance to shine. An artist based in London and a nature lover, she discovers hidden gems of beauty in daily life and turns them into artwork, mainly in landscape and architecture. Danielle Alexander

Danielle Alexander is a Toronto-based emerging artist exploring nostalgia, history and storytelling in her work. She often draws on her childhood memories such as camping with her family or exploring the woods with Scouts. She rewrites and criticizes her experiences, creating narratives and tension. Limited colour palettes unify her works across acrylic paint, watercolour, ink, and printmaking. Danielle is proud to have art hanging in the Ontario Legislative Assembly and had them in galleries across the Greater Toronto Area such as the Robert McLaughlin Gallery, Northern Contemporary, and Gallery 1313.

Her artistic background includes various mediums and experiences from painting to beading and digital design. She loves to paint portraits, city scenes and animals. Laara Cerman, based near Vancouver, British Columbia, creates her photographic work by capturing multiple digital images and then pieces them together in post-production, a skill she has mastered through working as a freelance retoucher in the commercial photography industry. Currently she is diversifying her artistic practice to include metalwork and fiber art, showcasing her evolving exploration of various mediums. She seeks to bridge the gap between contrasting elements, from the tactile to the digital and the organic to the synthetic. Her diverse body of work continues to gain recognition and can be seen in public art throughout British Columbia. She is currently on the public art roster for the Washington State Arts Commission, and was recently selected for TransLink’s Public Art Roster in Vancouver.

I'm Sam McGowan, a mixed media artist based in Southern Ontario, Canada. I enjoy capturing the beauty of nature, especially unique plants and animals, in bright colours and textures. I use my passion for biology to create pieces to capture and enhance the vibrancy found in the natural world. Wiktoria "Gilbert" Furmaniak

I'm a young Polish artist aspiring to create as much as possible in as many ways as possible. I adore animation but I adore experimentation even more! I usually focus on character and fandom art but now and then I like to step out of my comfort zone and draw or paint something entirely different. In the case of this plant, I decided to grab one of the many digital brushes I've never used before to see how it all comes out. And I think it came out pretty well!

Yuna Yoon

Yuna Yoon is a South Korean-Canadian painter based in Montreal. With a focus on watercolour, gouache and wax pastel, her paintings depict natural phenomena. Through her paintings, she goes beyond the visible world, delving into the mysterious realm of the noumenal, where the essence of things lies beyond direct perception. Drawing inspiration from outsider and self-taught artists, as well as her childhood memories from Guatemala, Yoon imbues her work with a sense of the uncanny, inviting viewers to contemplate the unseen depths of existence. She has participated in group exhibitions in Toronto, and is an avid gardener and plant lover.
